Creating a master bathroom with a true spa-like environment is all about subtle color and interesting textures. These clients approached JASON BALL interiors to completely remodel their bathroom. As you can see from the "before" picture, it was not only a completely dysfunctional space, but also outdated and not very relaxing. The interior design world over the past 30 years has shown homeowners that having a truly incredible bathroom with high style is within relatively easy reach. In working with our clients during the design process, we focused on colors and textures to create a relaxing oasis. We wanted the bathroom to be the embodiment of calm - a perfect beginning and ending to every day.
As you can see from the finished result, this master bathroom is all about relaxation and calmness. We focused the design on subtle use of color, with greens, deep browns and crisp whites. Anyone using the jetted tub (shrunken down from what is was) looks out the new window to the trees and sky beyond. The frameless enclosure of the shower keeps the view unhindered through the space.
For continuity, we carried the tub deck into the shower as the built-in bench. This design detail gave us the opportunity to drop the glass down on that side of the shower and keep the open feeling of the entire space.
When designing a master vanity, we always focus on functionality and then aesthetics. For this vanity, because we didn't have the width necessary, we opted for a single extra wide sink. We then gave each person their own set of storage drawers. For maximum storage, we designed a floor to ceiling storage cabinet at the end of the vanity. The large mirror and vanity light, again, keep the room feeling open and airy.
For these clients, creating a more functional and aesthetically pleasing refuge from the rest of the world was the driving force behind this remodel. By using a combination of color, texture and light, we created a luxurious bathroom environment. Whether contemporary or traditional, bathroom design is about creating just the perfect atmosphere in which you want to start and end each and every day. Question is, what do you want your bathroom to do for you?
